The Alma book- and stationary shop was Incipitojo’s cradle, in 2019. It will soon close its doors, leaving a cultural & social void in Pescia… On a wave of nostalgia & gratitude, Incipitojo wished to return to where it was born. With an inexorably sentimental edition. The six covers on display were those created for the fifth edition; affably hosted by the Hyle Book Festival, whose theme was ‘Il sogno continua immenso’ (‘The dream continues immense’). A theme that was well in keeping with the future of Corrado & Stefania (Alma’s souls).
Visitors were invited to handwrite – without competition – in loco, drawing inspiration from the covers & abandoning themselves to the emotions & sensations of the moment. The writing was done with natural graphite on postcards produced in Italy, which are biodegradable and contain non-GMO seeds of various wildflowers (Alyssum, Antirrhinum majus, Clarkia, Gilia tricolor, Rudbeckia hirta, Silene). All cards were displayed & photographed. And all will be planted at the appropriate time in various sites in Pescia & its surroundings, generating human connections between writers & sowers. The words will whisper to the seeds during germination & thus enter into a life cycle & a dream that continues immense. Leaving perennial traces of Alma on the territory.
